I was born in Seoul and immigrated to the United States at age 9, growing up in New York City. In my family, as in much of Korean culture, Chinese herbs and acupuncture were a normal part of caring for one's health. As a child who was frequently ill, being given Chinese herbs was as natural as any other part of daily life. That foundation, combined with coming of age between two cultures, gave me an early and intimate familiarity with both Eastern and Western approaches to healing.
My journey with acupuncture became personal at 19, after a back injury brought me to my mother's acupuncturist in Flushing, Queens. The treatment worked, but what stayed with me was the fascination it sparked.
In 2002, I completed my training at the Brenneke School of Massage in Seattle. And shortly after I graduated, I began receiving Worsley Classical Five-Element Acupuncture™ and it became clear this was the medicine I was meant to practice. Experiencing it as a patient showed me how profoundly it could help, and I knew I needed to study it so I could offer the same to others. In 2004, I traveled to Nepal to deepen my study of bodywork and whole-person care, and by 2006 I had enrolled at the Wu Hsing Tao School in Seattle, graduating in 2010. Studying under Dirk Heiner deepened my understanding considerably, his love for the tradition and commitment to its roots left a lasting impression on my practice.
My studies continue through the Worsley Institute with Judy Worsley, wife of J.R. Worsley, a steadfast keeper of this lineage, and a truly remarkable teacher. I continue this work out of genuine love for the medicine and a deep commitment to growing as a practitioner. It is a rich and living tradition, one where the learning never stops and the medicine itself becomes a way of living.
I come to every session with full presence, listening carefully, looking closely, and always seeking the root. My deepest intention is to support each person in their health journey through a truly holistic approach.
Beginning June 17, 2026, I will be transitioning full-time from Kwan Yin Healing Arts Center to my private practice. Click here for more details.
